Two huge fires have arisen in the landscape in California.

Some 300 firefighters are struggling against these infernal fires fed by a heat wave and they totaled 14 km² Tuesday.
Hundreds of homes were evacuated.

These two fires that threaten to merge, are north of Los Angeles in the Angeles National Forest, near the cities of Duarte and Azusa.

Another fire raged in California: fire Sherpa in the Los Padres National Forest. It has doubled in size during the weekend to 32 km². 140 homes were evacuated.

Temperatures hit record temperatures in recent days, brushing 50 degrees in the American Southwest.
Fires are also raging in the states of New Mexico and Arizona.

In the latter state east of the California heat wave has also killed four hikers.
